I am not here to ‘fix’ problems and do not claim to be able to ‘solve’ things overnight. What I can do is be a supportive, approachable mentor who guides your child to realise their own strengths and work on their weaknesses. I provide children with tools to help them become more aware of their emotions and those of others. Together we are working on building healthy habits that will help guide your child through life’s many ups and downs.
If you’ve noticed your child’s spirit dimming of late or they are facing hurdles they can't quite jump over, or if you just want to give them that extra boost of confidence, then Child Wellbeing Coaching is the answer you've been searching for!
Absolutely! With a background in Education and SEND I have been lucky enough to do a lot of training over my 20 years in the industry. To name a few, I am a qualified Montessori Teacher, ELSA trained, TACPAC practitioner, Theraplay practitioner, DBS checked and fully insured. I am also a Mum myself with a child with Tourettes Syndrome and ADHD.
Parents have an initial consultation on Zoom, this is included in the 6 and 8 week programme price. In this meeting we will get to know each other and decide whether coaching is the right step for you and your child. If your child is still unsure, we can arrange a brief meet and greet zoom call to help ease their worries. These introductions enable me to determine how to adapt programmes to best suit the individual. In our first session children will complete an initial monitoring form, we then work on improving the score in low areas by the end of the programme. If during the programme new issues arise, we can also focus in these areas, coaching sessions are very much led by the child. At the end of a programme the child will complete the monitoring form again to see how they have developed over their programme. There will be an overview summary sent to parents along with a post coaching information pack. I understand we cannot always put a time on these things so you can always come back for 1 off sessions once a programme is complete.
As we all know too well, changes don’t happen overnight. My recommendations of an 6-8 week Emotional Wellbeing programmes is so that we can begin to see results after roughly 4 weeks and then really cement these new habits for your child. This obviously all depends on the individual and the support system around them. With TACPAC and BRICK therapy we suggest a little longer as these sessions are more tactile and require time to see desired changes.
TACPAC is a sensory communication session using touch and music. TACPAC helps people with sensory impairment, developmental delay, complex learning difficulties, tactile defensiveness, dementia and limited or pre verbal levels of communication. TACPAC is suitable for people of all ages. Sessions will last 30 minutes and can take place in the comfort of your own home, in schools, in hospital and in residential care. Sessions will take place on the same day and time each week for the duration of the programmes. Coaches will bring everything required to complete a TACPAC session. It is recommended to begin with 12 sessions, either once or twice a week.
BRICK Therapy is an evidence based intervention developed to support positive interactions, build confidence and develop social and emotional wellbeing. BRICK therapy is suitable for children aged 4 years up to teenagers. BRICK Therapy sessions can be 1-1 or small group sessions consisting of 3 children and the practitioner. Sessions will last approx. 30 minutes and can take place in the comfort of your own home, in schools, pre schools, hospital and in residential care. Sessions will take place on the same day and time each week for the duration of the programmes. Coaches will bring everything required to complete a BRICK Therapy session. It is recommended to begin with 12 sessions, either once or twice a week.
From battling the dreaded monsters under the bed anxieties to conquering the treacherous terrain of Emotional Based School Avoidance, our coaches are armed with a toolbox of strategies to help your child overcome any challenge with a smile on their face.
Not quite! Child Wellbeing Coaching is focused on goal setting, where your child gets to be the hero of their own story. It's all about empowerment, growth, and learning to understand and manage emotions in a way that works for the individual. Therapist work with mental health issues such as trauma, eating disorders and suicidal thoughts. If your child is suffering from any of the above I would recommend you contact a therapist. Please see link to a local therapist I can recommend: https://southwestpsychotherapy.co.uk/contact/
During our sessions there may be times where parents are encouraged to join but ultimately this will depend on the child and what they want. It is not recommended that parents sit in on every session, this gives children a safe space to talk openly about things they may not feel comfortable to discuss in front of parents.
